Computer won't display

The Dragon

My computer started giving me postcodes, I took out my graphics card and cleaned it. While it was out the computer would still give me the postcode. From what I can tell is that it was a display error. I put the graphics card back in, still gave me the postcode. I then took my whole computer apart, cleaned it and put it back together. It no longer gives me the postcode but it doesn't display anything. I have no way to test components but if you guys can't figure out the problem then I will probably get a new motherboard as thats probably the problem. Thanks

Try going into safe-mode. Then check you monitor settings and fix them to your native resolution and restart the computer.

Clear CMOS, and if your board has on-board video or in your CPU has integrated graphics, try turning it on with no graphic cards. Remove any other add in cards you may have to just see if the system can boot with the bare minimum components installed (i.e CPU and RAM).

What is CMOS?

A fancy way of saying BIOS (essentially).

How can I clear the bios if it doesn't display?

  1. Unplug the PSU from the wall outlet.
  2. There is a battery (coin battery/watch battery) on the motherboard that can be removed for a few minutes.
  3. Replace battery.
  4. Plug in PSU
  5. Try to boot.

Wait by replace do you mean put back in or get a new one?

Yes, just put it back in.  No need to buy a new one.
