Which Gaming Headset to buy?

PHXQwerty
Go to solution Solved by LemonCheek,

Which headet do you recommend buying for about $250?

Also it'll be used for music :3

I say go with the AKG K612 Pros and get a mod mic. Well, thats just my recommendation. If you like bass, then the DT990 will do the trick.

Hey,

I'm currently looking for a gaming headset to use on BOTH PS4 and PC.(Mainly PC) BUT I dont know which one to go with. I was thinking about an Astro A40 or like a Sennheiser G4me One. Any suggestions?(Need to know ASAP!)

Also, I need a MIC built in. If there isn't a mic I guess I can buy a modmic.

edit:I'll also be using it for music sometimes.

Thanks in advance! :D

I'd recommend a Mad Catz tritton universal. They're around $100USD, deliver 7.1 surround sound, appealing and are compatible for everything. Finding them can somewhat be a pain but they're worth it

Logitech g430 (79.99 USD @ Best Buy) or g230 (41.99 USD on sale @ Best Buy) Razer Carcharias (65 USD @ Best Buy) Razer Kraken Pro (69.99 USD @ Best Buy). Anything besides these that cost more, are overpriced and you are only paying name brand. Many brands use the SAME 40mm drivers, and honestly unless you're going with Sennhesier, don't spend more than $100. Do not.

A REALLY good deal- Logitech G35 headset, normally 129.99.. on sale for 61.99 @ Best Buy.. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-g35-surround-sound-gaming-headset-black/9257163.p?id=1218069751531&skuId=9257163

I vote this G35^^

I have honestly never saw anyone recommend that headset but I will look into it.

Hyper X cloud is a rebranded Qpad QH-90, which when the QH-90 sold, it sold for $69.99 USD not Hyper X's charge of $99 current offer. Link below is the EXACT headset as the Cloud.

Yeah I know, but he wanted a mic built it.

I know it's the qh-90 or taskstar pro 80.

But it has a mic

Those are like literally a collection of all the worst headsets in existence, like literally. Please don't listen to this guy.... Buy a Hyper X or make you're own headset and mod it so it's more convenient for console use.

Intel Core i7 7770K | 32 GB's Ram 3000MHz | GTX 1080 Ti | 250GB SSD | 3TB 7400 RPM | Sound Blaster Z | ASUS ROG MG278Q | Razer Blackwidow Chroma | Final Mouse 2015 | Blue Yeti | Seinheiser HD 600's | Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro | Aune T1 MK2

I currently own a HyperX. The first one, I was thinking about buying the second gen to it. My baby bro broke my first one -.-

I thought maybe the Astro and Sennheiser's were "better".

Astro isn't, Seinheiser is better, then the clouds, also more money so up to you. Astro's have better sound quality but I've had two and they break really easy just from use, Seinheiser is all around great but they are pricey.

If you're down for getting a seperate mic or mod mic, I would say something like a DT 990 Pro, with a mod mic. If you want convenience get the Audio Technica ATHADG1, Summit1g has those if you wanna check him out (famous twitch streamer)

All headphones and headsets are designed like this:

A headband to hold the cups, which hold the transducers on each cup.

A "game focused" headphone/headset is basically a pair of headphones with a mic on them.

Strangely enough, guys like AKG, Shure, and Audio Technica (specifically the A series headphones like the A900X, AD900X, A700X, AD700X, the likes, except the MXX line, though) are the kind of guys who pretty much make great gaming headphones when its meant to just listen to audio from whatever source they are plugged into.

Oh okay. Well its either a AKG K612 Pros w/mod mic or a Audio Technica ATHADG1.

Which would you advise even though, you said the K6 :3

Gotta decide on these

Well, I'd vote for the K612.

Okay thanks!

K612 while good, can sound bass anemic for tons of people. I would recommend something like phillips SHP-9500 with v-moda boom mic. Besides, you wont be able to run K612 on PS4's controller

I ran my K612 through my PS4 controller. Its not that it can't be driven, its just that by the time you're halfway to your comfortable volume, distortion happens. That said, I have rather sensitive ears and in a quiet room and I'm fine with the volume.

Random person here...

Does the Philips really have that much more bass? Seems like the roll-off is precipitous.

By definition, that means that it can't be driven.
