Kraken Pro Mic Incompatible With Onboard Sound ?

Will it effect my sound quality ?

If you get a good quality sound card, you may get higher quality input from the mic. Depends on the quality of the mic in the headset.

Hey guys, I have just recently bought a Razer Kraken Pro, but I'm having some issues. My mic is onbly transmitting static and my voice only shows a little bit. This is unusual because it works on my phone, laptop, and other desktop fine. I was wondering if it had to do with my onboard sound card. My mobo is a GA-X79-UP4.

Does the microphone port work with other mics on your rig?

If it works on other devices just fine, it's likely the mic port that doesn't work.

Does that mean I should get a sound card.

You will not know if it's broken or not if you have nothing to try it with. But if it works fine with everything else, it should work with the microphone port on your rig, assuming it's functional - as it's just another microphone port.

The problem is that it does it with my back and front ports. I really doubt that both are broken.

You may have to resort to that.

Xonar DG is about $30. You may be able to find it for cheaper. It uses a PCI interface. Make sure you have one of those slots. Alternatively, you can grab a USB sound card.

Yes. That is a good sound card. I'll look around for USB sound cards.

No. PCIe and PCI are two different interfaces.

It most likely is. More room for audio hardware.
