Is this a good PSU and case?

captainblargh9

inb4 everyone says no: no.

That PSU is most likely OEM and doesn't show reliability.

The case limits you to mATX or ITX sized motherboards and it looks butt ugly, OEM style.

Airflow will be extremely tricky to optimize, if possible at all.

No way you can do any cable management in it

Personally I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole

Also, $300 gaming pc? keep dreamin'. Unless you buy everything second hand there's next to no chance of getting something good for that money

So you want to buy a GAMING pc for $300 and expect it to run any GAME?

Save some more money and buy better parts!

Nope.

Get a Fractal Core 1100 and an EVGA 430W 80+ PSU. Still not ideal, but way better than this POS.

id recommend either saving up at least $500 for a gaming pc,l but that is a decent case which will run low end parts in a $300 pc

i'd be *that* guy ranting about low quality power supplies..

but currently sitting next to me is probably one of the worst maintained systems i've faced in a long time, powered by A POWER SUPPLY THAT DOESNT EVEN HAVE A BRAND ON IT.

turns out, even after 10 years, theres still nothing wrong with it. (aside from having more dust than a fken pillow factory)

--

that said, $300 is *really* low, even for simple indie games its a tight cut.

EDIT: should mention: i'm talking about things being playable, without making your eyes bleed.

I'm a fan of Logical Increments for really low-end builds. They recommend the Antec GS One and a Corsair CX430 power supply. Seems like a good combo to me.

What are the parts then? You are probably better off buying a ps4 or xbox one for that price and get better performance (unless you are buying second hand parts)

Ok, as someone who has skimped on price for years, lemme tell you, not cheap in the long run.

I upgraded from a Socket AM2 Phenom 1 X3 with an HD4870 to an i3-2100 with a GTX 460. Total price for the new RAM/MB/CPU/GPU was $360 back in early 2012. Here we are almost 4 years later and I cant even run Bioshock Infinite at 1080, medium settings without frame rates dropping below 30.

I'm now looking at an upgrade totaling $600, this isnt even replacing the MB, just the CPU/GPU/Case/PSU/RAM.

As for the case? Garbage. There are much better options.

$30 case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129186 Antec VSK-3000. Much better quality for one.

$30 PSU. http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=100-W1-0500-RX EVGA 500W PSU. While not being the best on the market, its a heck of alot better than whatever is in that Rosewill.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE SKIMP ON THE PSU. That is a very good way to fry components in case the PSU fails, and decides to take other things with it. A poor PSU can also cause part failure due to bad ripple, and the PSU still works.

So I've decided on changing, I got an EVGA 430W PSU, I kept the case. The case I suggested doesn't have case fans which was what I was wanting so I don't have to spend extra money on fans that aren't already pre installed. Any other case suggestions for about 20$-30$
