This build could play most games with decent frame rates at 720p or 900p

<p>Wish I could have this already!! : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qTLRjX

Yeah don't bother with that GPU. If you are being thrifty, I suggest ebay. Just get a used part.

That card is the same as an R7 265/ R9 370 and beats the 750ti pretty decisively, and it's cheaper than that GT 740 since it is secondhand.

EDIT: Just saw the shipping, but you can search for 2GB HD7850/ 7870 on your own, I think there will be some good deals. I got a PowerColor 2GB one for $69.99 and free shipping a while back and it works just fine; made a fantastic upgrade for the prebuilt at home.

It's okay for very light gaming, but you might have to turn stuff down in newer games to avoid bad frame rate.

that was the plan I was going to start with light gaming

Hey Fez760,

If you don't plan on upgrading the memory in the future I would recommend getting a 2x4GB kit instead of 1x8GB in order to make a better use of the dual-channel support of the motherboard. Also I would consider adding a SSD to make the build much more responsive and snappier, decrease all loading and boot times and increase the transfer speeds significantly. WD Blue should be able to handle pretty much anything you throw at it in terms of gaming, though. :)
