60hz vs 120hz vs 144hz monitor

N64CUBE

I have an Fx 6300 overclocked to 4.3ghz and the R9 280x Vapor-x 3gb card, would it be worth it to go above a 60hertz monitor (I'm currently using a TV and looking to upgrade)? And if so, to which, 120hz or 144hz?

Use fraps or something to see what kinda framerate you are currently getting. If your constantly over 75+ hz I would say its worth it.

Edit 75 fps not hz

Well if you play a lot of fps titles its def worth it. 144hz is the norm now so def go with that. Not sure there even any 120hz monitors available anymore. My num,ber one recommendation would be Benq. But it depends on your budget.

Also on the subject of general desktop use I say its worth it. Web browsing and the like is smoother and looks good as well.

?Alright, I don't quite hit 144 fps with skyrim but I definitely do with CSGO, so I'll go for 144hz. Sound alright?

I have the same CPU and a GTX 760. In BF4, I get around 70-80 FPS without V-Sync on (which I keep on since I can't stand tearing). I wish I had a 120Hz or 144Hz monitor because I DO notice the difference between 40-50 FPS and 60 FPS (much smoother, I don't know how I can see it), and I wish I could utilize all of the power my card has, since I know 70-80 FPS will be an even bigger difference.
