Weird USB issue.

I have 2 USB 3.0 ports in the front. If I plug an external hard drive into one and start doing stuff on it, after some time it will randomly disconnect from the computer. Reconnecting it does not fix it as it won't show up anymore under "Hard Disk Drives" or Disk Management. I tried another external hard drive as well and the same thing happened. So both are plugged into the 2 usb ports and they won't show up no matter how many times I plug them back in unless I restart my computer. But the strange part is that even when the hard drives won't show up, if I plug in my iPhone, it does show up and I can access the files on it. Plug one of the hard drives back in, no go. Unless I restart my computer of course.

looks like either a power problem or some driver issue
