Intel SSD 730

I am going to replace my hdd with a new ssd in my laptop and I was looking for Intel 730 and 2 models came along 

1. SSDSC2BP480G410
2. SSDSC2BP480G4R5

​does anyone know the deference should I consider another brand or stick with Intel?

@Christos Should consider another brand. The 730 is quite old, though still holds up for RAID configurations when data integrity is the key factor, but in terms of performance, get either:
 

Sandisk Extreme Pro

or

Samsung 850 Pro

 

Both offer comparable data integrity to the Intel while giving much better performance.

There are no differences between the drives themselves. One's an OEM drive, another a reseller one.

 

OEM ones just comes in a brown box (or similar), where as reselling ones could come with 3.5 inch adapters and such. I'm not sure with the Intel 730.

The biggest thing against the intel in a laptop buil;d is that it's quite power hungry for an SSD. On performance.. It's solid, not the fastest but you won't perceive any difference although it is a monster for how consistent it is. 

 

For me the options all come down to the price they are at.

 

I'd go for a Crucual MX200 or OCZ Vector 180 or Intel.. All depends on the pricing and availability.

I have a Sammy 840 Pro, but I wouldn't go this way again.. the software sucks and in the SSD endurance test, of all the drives that died, the sammy lasted longest but just gave out without warning.. All the others gave warning before going pop.. Very limited sample size to be sure but there have been other issues too such as drastically inconsistent results in a few tests (My 730 is sooo consistent)

I get about 490Mbs Reads, 500Mbs writes with my 480gb 730. So it performs just fine, you wont notice a difference against any sata3 ssds. As mentioned before it has a higher power consumption and runs hotter than most. If you just want a ssd upgrade you might be better off going with something else due to price. If data integrity is what your looking for, you cant beat the 730.
