Is the 4gb gtx 960 worth buying?

Go for the 970 if you can, it's a much better choice. 

It is for family not me. Will probably go 970. Does the 960 suffer the same problem as the 970? The whole 3.5 gb vram thing.

Albeit inferior cooling compare to other aftermarket 290, it still much better than the reference. 

 

 

 

The 970 give better price/performance compare to 960.

In that case, GTX970 or GTX760 if you don't need all that power and save some money.

The 4gb 960 makes no sense, go for a 970. Or an r9 290x if it's cheaper.

Not worthwhile at all, the r9 290 is cheaper than or the same price as 4gb 960 cards. If you can't afford a 970/290x that is your best option.

 

Check out pcpartpicker to get the best prices. I was going to recommend scan but they are sold out of regular 290's I think.

The damn thing struggles with 2Gb why give it 4?!

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.
