GTA 5 bad performance on high end system.

Hi, I'm a new user here and am asking for your help.

I've been trying to run GTA 5 and have been seeing really low GPU usage and fairly high CPU usage, though this is on a high end system.

The system includes:
2 Way SLI GTX 980
i7-4790k
16GB RAM
The game is installed on an Intel 530 SSD

My CPU usage usually ranges from 40-90% while the GPU is sitting around 30%. No background programs are running and yet the game continues to stutter and perform badly. This even occurs when I play on the lowest settings with everything down, as well as dropping down my resolution to 800x600.

GTA is having problems with new Nvidia cards recently. Give them some time to fix it.

Try putting your DirectX to 10.1, it has increased my frame rate by about 15.

The prime suspects are outdated drivers. Make sure they are all up to date and if they are, try a full driver reinstall. Make sure your cpu and gpus are not overheating. What motherboard are you using, and at what resolution are you playing?

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Yes drivers are up to date and all temps are around 50 C, so everything seems fine on that end.

Turn off sli. See if one gpu will go to 100%

GPU sits around around 50% though stuttering/hitching still persists.

Try putting your DirectX to 10.1, it has increased my frame rate by about 15.

10.1 is being used and yet stuttering still persists, it has also gotten my cpu usage at around 85%.

My own music is not being used as well as antivirus is not being used at all.

Drivers are all up to date, temps are at around 50-55 C during the game. I'm using a Gigabyte z97 Gaming GT at 1080p.

GTA V is a really CPU heavy game so I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with your system. My 4670K sits at 100% most of the time.

If you have extended distance scaling in advanced graphics enabled you should disable it. Other settings that affect CPU are distance scaling and population density. Other than that, there's nothing you can do.

That is already disabled as well.

I edited my previous post, in case you didn't notice. Like I said, GTA V is really taxing on the CPU and even 6-core and 8-core i7's struggle to maintain 60 fps. This game needs DX12/Vulcan/Mantle really bad.

I've tried bringing down all the settings and it turns out nothing is working :/

So how is it that others are playing this game perfectly fine with lower settings than me? Is there nothing I can do?

How much fps do you get?

Is the stuttering this bad?

The stuttering is not that bad but it's close.

I get from 40-110 depending on if I'm just standing still or driving. But this is with most every setting on low or off, with no advanced settings on.

There has to be a up coming patch to fix these things. Your setup should be outstanding. if nothing you tried works and lots of other people are getting bad performance too. The game is buggy atm. Im sorry. There is a post about changing settings in nividia explorer but, i didnt do it.
