Downgrading (depends on how you view it) CPU's

Here is interesting question, 

 

I have a z77 motherboard and currently a 3570k. Now I have come across a i7 2600k for cheap and I want it, problem is it would be a swap. 

 

So the question is if I have a z77 mobo but a Sandy bridge cpu will the USB 3.0 ports still work? 

 

The other question is will I have a problem if I put a Ivy Bridge Cpu into a Z67 board? Currently my build is temporarily running off a h61 board + 3570k, so I assume it would't make much difference thought I would ask anyway.

Overclocking, and its not really a downgrade....

i have a 2600k in a z77 board and can confirm its running awesome got it up to 4,5 on water and yes usb3 works

USB runs off the chipset not off the CPU, so if the mobo has usb 3.0 it will worth  with any CPU on the socket
