GTX 970 driver question help omg

dima_

It's not over. This shitty fucking card makes me want to do a backflip off a bridge. Even with nVidia's "game-ready" driver, GTA V stutters like a motherfucker to the point of unplayability and I'm basically done with it. But I love BF4 and since I got my new SSD, I've been so excited see the new load times. And it's fun. For five minutes, before it gets killer FPS drops that completely fuck it up and definitely makes it 100% unplayable. Here's something I noticed though. I ran games fine on an old ass driver I installed late last year, but GTA V's performance was so fucking shitty I installed the new game-ready driver and it kind of helped but not really. The point is that BF4 ran fine. It ran fine on high settings on my fucking 2GB 770 and now my 970 can't handle it. This has to be something with the driver. I need help. What's the latest GeForce driver before this new piece of shit, how can I install it and do a clean install of it? However, if anyone has any other ideas that don't revolve around the driver being the shit behind this, please tell me. I'm looking for anything at this point.

If that's the case, how can I find the most recent driver before it and do a clean install of it?

Actually I don't think the driver is the issue now that I checked.

There has been a ton of people with 970s that are having GTA problems, but mine is fine

Try reinstalling your drivers. If that doesn't work then maybe it is an issue with the drivers. I'd google it to check if other people are having the same problem as you.

I'd also just like to point out very politely that cussing in every sentence doesn't add anything to the people helping you to diagnose your problems and suggest solutions :)

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Not just GTA V, BF4 is unplayable too.

If it works fine for a short period and then starts to have problems, thermal throttling ?

Curious. It's less than 6 months old. How could I tell if its thermal throttling and what could I do about it?

You could use hardware monitor or msi afterburner to check the temperature, if it's between 90-100°C then it could be the source of the problem.

Actually, yeah, speaking of that, I use Afterburner and I don't think that's the problem. Hm..
