Can my system bottleneck the new RAM?

I have a MSI Z97 Gaming 3 mobo and a I7 4790K. One of RAM modules died recently and I was looking for some new RAM. I found corsair vengeance 32GB 1600 2x16... I know it's over kill but I found it for a really good price. It's A lot more than my 8GB. My question here is, would My system bottleneck the RAM in anyway?

It wouldn't use 32gb of ram because you don't need them, but other than that they are perfectly supported.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

bottleneck the ram? huh? there is no such thing

Ram is only used.. when you need to use it, if you are only running like one program at a time, having 32gb is literally no benefit at all

in fact the only time you will use 32gb is in Extremely demanding circumstances that 99% of people would never do

The platform doesn't support quad channel so unless you absolutely need 32 GB there's no reason to buy that much. You can probably get a 16 GB kit (2x8) for half the price which is still a large chunk of ram. It's better to have more than you need but it's never good to buy more than you'll ever use. Besides your board has four dimm slots so you could always buy another 16 GB kit to max out your ram to 32 GB anyways.

One more question, could I use my old RAM with that? It's a 4gb 1600 module from my old 8gb kit. At this point in just greedy hahah

Nvm, sorry.... I just checked and both parts are capable of handling 32gb lol. I just didn't want it to sit there without getting used. xD

Whatever you choose to get, RAM bottlenecks aren't a big thing these days. RAM is fucking FAST, so it doesn't matter what the rest of your system is made of, it just depends on what you run on it. For example, most people that need 32+GB of ram, usually do something with rendering, or video editing, which uses tons of ram. If all you do is play games and browse the internet on chrome, 16gb is more than plenty. I have 16gb personally because I used to have just 8gb, and all my chrome tabs would start slowing down becuase I capped out my ram capacity. With 16gb, I can have more than like, 30-50 tabs open with no problems. Its mostly up to you.
