My Asus Laptop

Hey guys,

My Asus laptop's drive recently died and I need to replace it and the OS. I'm not sure how to do this so any help will be great.

I've got a WD black 750GB 2.5" drive that has served me quite well for a few years now, it was in my asus k53ta-bbr6 before it killed itself, and now resides in my desktop as a storage drive for server/website shiz and recordings.

Stick with WD or Seagate with the drive and you should be fine, I'd recommend going with a WD black or WD Blue drive.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Grab an ssd, It'll make a pretty significant difference to the system.

Depending on the model, you may need to simply remove a panel on the rear or possibly the whole rear cover.

For the OS, if you want to stick witht he same one, you need to find your licence key, It should be with the documentation or possibly on a sticker somewhere on the laptop.

You can find guides as to how to make a bootable USB key (google is your friend), simply boot from the USB drive, and follow the instructions. Activate with the licence you had and your done.

Make sure you install the same version of the OS as your licence is for.

I don'T PreSS caPs.. I juST Hit THe keYboARd so HarD iT CriTs :P

Quote or @dzzope to get my attention..
