New case, replacing CM Trooper.

Hemanse

Im starting to get really annoyed with my current case, the CM Trooper, read alot of good reviews back when i bought it, but i have had nothing but problems with it, the build quality is questionable at best, all the supplied fans failed after a few months (now replaced with all noctua), moving around fans in the front is a nightmare with the drive cage setup and most annoying at all, pretty much the reason why im changing it is the fact that the case rumbles when i have my fans going.

But enough of why the Tropper is a terrible case, what im really looking for is a bit of help finding a better case, so far i have been looking at these cases -

  • Phanteks Enthoo Luxe and Pro - not running liquid cooling what im guessing these cases are mostly used for, but it seems the build quality is top notch.
  • Be Quiet! Silent Base 800 - someone mentioned this case, had never heard of it myself, but must admit it looks really nice and i do love a quiet case.
  • Fractal Design Define R5 - looks like a nice case, but i do prefer full tower cases.

The more i read about the Base 800 im starting to lean towards it, looks like a really good case, anyone got any good or bad experiences with it or any of the other cases for that matter? :)

I've been thinking about a new case for a while and the define r5 is what I'm leaning towards. The silent base doesn't come with a window'd side panel so it's out of the question for me.

luxe and pro and are just  fine for air cooling, i use mine with all fans setup and temps are great, the evo fan is the loudest of them all.

I personally wouldn't get the silent base 800 because there isn't a side panel window but you may not care about that and between the enthoo luxe and define r5 pretty much, i personally would end up getting the Define r5 because i have an r4 and fractal support when i needed a new front panel was amazing to say the least, but if you really want that full tower i would go for the luxe but it is a bit more money

Well if you plan to populate the top fan mounting areas in this case and are going purely based off of silence, the Silent Base 800 is your best bet. Also the stock fans that come with it are quieter than those that come with the R5. The one issue with the Silent Base 800 is the fact that it has considerably less in the way of water cooling flexibility than the R5 and is not nearly as clean looking, however, that might not be a concern for you.

Im okay with not having a side window, my current case doesnt have one either, but yeah im probably not gonna get the R5 due to the size of it, so its probably gonna stand between the Silent Base 800 and the luxe/pro, the luxe (in white, man that looks good), pro and 800 pretty much cost the same thing here, still leaning a bit towards the base 800 due to the fact that its based around being quiet.

I dont really have any plans in the near future of going for liquid cooling, gonna be left over with alot of unused fans if i get the 800, but then again, the fans in my media pc could use an upgrade :) when it comes to the look of the case im not really that picky, im more of a function over looks kinda guy.

Gonna go with the Phanteks Luxe, i can get it in white and after watching a few reviews of both the luxe and the base 800, the phanteks looks like its much better build, the base 800 when taken apart looks rather "cheap" and plastic like.

165$ price tag converted, but seems worth it, the base 800 cost around 155$
