Is LG prepping a monster?

Sigmatech

So i discovered this last weekend with the missus......, and although i am already aware of the whole 'TV's have latency' issues....

Something tells me LG has something coming: https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/home-entertainment/televisions/uhd-televisions/lg-42ub820t-42-ultra-high-definition-smart-led/prod134758.html

Panasonic had something similar a few years back that was boss, but my spidey senses are tingling...

Thoughts LTT?

4K at that pixel density does nothing for me, especially because there are little to no actual TV stations that are streaming video that high-res. In any case, you have to take into account both the latency, which you pointed out, and the fact that your set-top-box will seldom have 4K support, let alone a connection fast enough to receive and transfer anything but the most compressed 4K video. At the moment, for me, I'll pass, especially since I have glasses. That said, that's not to say that this TV won't have uses and that it won't have customers. It will have customers, which is most probably a good thing.

Yeah, the thing is, HDMI 2.0 can't drive it that high, which is funny.

Come on, people, if you're going to build a TV like this, at least give it Displayport! Not HDMI! HDMI is technology from 1999, use the VESA standard!

at 4k sure, i'd agree. 100Hz @ 4k would be unrealistic. From a productivity response @30Hz would probably be attainable....but as a 100Hz 1080p panel though.....

Would it not be interesting? Iunno, discussion is good right? :)

productivity? no-one does colour work on a TV. No. You want colour accuracy, you get a monitor.

if it were 1080p, then great, fine, that would work too, but 4K, come on. If they wanted 100Hz, they should have had at least Displayport, because no set-top box is going to have two HDMI outputs

Sorry, i just curious. Everytime i went to electronic center, i keep seeing 4K TV playing 4K 60 FPS video which needs 60 Hz and still using HDMI.

I don't know if im wrong, but i think i can see the difference between 24 and 60 FPS video since i make 3D animation video many many times

On productivity I have one response "WTF does productivity have to do with color work?" Those are not synonymous don't act like they are what issue would 30/60hz be for a productivity standpoint, to someone working on spreadsheets and power points it wouldn't make a difference, and then set top boxes don't output 4k like ever, if they did they wouldn't output 100hz even if the standard they used could... I see it more being you use it at 4k 30-60hz or a lower res for the higher refresh rate...

Get off your high horse, those things are dangerous teach that horse to put down the drugs it is harmful to not only itself but anyone the horse comes in to contact with

100hz true motion seems like an odd number for frame duplication. 120hz is where difference frame rates sync up. 24fps movies multiply into 120hz. 30fps multiplies into 120hz. its why the next jump after 120hz is 144hz, again because its a multiple of 24.

*edit* nevermind, I see that its 50hz input.

It has interpolarization so it's only 50Hz. I love how people who sell TVs at retail stores either don't know or care and sell you snake oil saying this IPS TV is 480Hz.
