games crash when using more than 6gb ram even though they shouldn't

My system:

i7 4770k (4.2ghz+be quiet shadow rock)

asus gtx 780 (kraken g10+nzxt x41)

asus maximus gene VI

Corsair vengeance pro 8gb 2133mhz (9-11-11-31)

Be quiet 650w power zone

Windows 7 64bit

When I play games like dying light the ram usage goes up to 6gb. I then get an error message from windows which says that the programm has to close to ensure the safety of the system and to prevent a lost of data. I have closed everything in the background but I keep getting the message. I have seen on youtube others playing dying light with 8gb of ram installed and a total use of +7gb ram ingame and it works perfectly.

I may have to change some settings in windows but I don't know which ones.

Dying light is notorious for eating ram, so I think that is normal.

Yeah I know, it is just paradox. Why do the same systems behave differently? One system can run dying light with 8gb ram and the other one not. I have updated everything.
