Use CCleaners drive wiper. Run the 35 pass which will take days but it will clear all recoverable data. (For the most part, nothing will 100% completely erase everything)

You could also create a whole lot of worthless data worth the size of the drive and rewrite it about 4-5 times. Just make a whole lot of text files called "asdf.txt" or fill it up with a bunch of nature videos.

Hey dbcooper,

Your best bet would be writing zeros on the whole drive. This basically puts a zero in every bit on the drive's platter, making it nearly impossible for a data recovery company to get the data back. I would run this a couple of times to make sure everything is completely wiped out. :)
