windows install problems

Hey,

I just put a computer together today and bios is reading all devices etc, however I am unable to install windows 7.

i downloaded windows 7 (what i have a key for), and then followed the guide on linus' video for NCIX:

however when I try to boot through the usb drive it just says:

"remove disks or other media.

Press any key to restart"

I think it's because the download file is a different format from how it comes on the disk or something? as linus drags several files onto the usb whereas the download from microsoft website is just a single file

i have an MSI G55 SLI mobo if that helps

any help would be much appreciated,

cheers,

Anton

my friend (@alby800) and I had this same problem on his build, we literally tried for half an hour and nothing worked that we tried, till i came up with the brilliant idea of loading the key onto a disk and it the worked fine, maybe you could try if you have a disk reader around if not idk how to help you

Not every USB keys works. You need to find and use a USB flash drive that has a controller that supporting booting from it.
