Games don't recognize custom resolution

Guest niciuffo
Go to solution Solved by Dennis Caplinger,

Did you install the qnix monitor drivers?

I own a pair of Gigabyte GTX 970, and a QNIX QX2710 monitor. I have created a custom resolution of 2560x1440 @ 120Hz in the nVidia CP, and it works fine in Windows, but I can't get it to work on games that don't allow to select a custom refresh rate (Insurgency is an example). The games play fine in borderless windowed at 120Hz, but refuse to run above 60Hz in fullscreen mode.
I tried using start-up parameters such as "-refresh 120" with no luck, the game still runs at 60Hz max.
I would like to point out that I can't see my custom resolution in Color Sustainer, and I have to use the global mode (which is not ideal). I had this problem even before a Windows reinstall with different GPU, so maybe it's a driver issue?

Also, if I create a custom resolution such at 3840x2160@60Hz (4k), and it works fine in Windows, I can't see it in games.
TLDR: Games run at whatever fps they want to, but only display up to 60 in fullscreen mode. In borderless they run fine.

Do you have vsync enabled?

go in nvidia control panel and just enable all resolutions available (nvidia introduced DSR this generation making this very easy now) here's how to do it:

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 2 VR

That was apparently the issue. Thanks for the reply.
