Is it worth it to try WoW again?

It's been almost a year since I was last on WoW, and then it was really just because I had found a 2 month card that I figured I might as well use. I was really a huge fan of the game back in late BC and throughout all of WotLK. I played with tons of friends that I had both met online and knew in real life and we were all super excited for Cata, but it ended up being super disappointing. Recently I have started seeing commercials for WoD and a couple of friends are playing again. To be honest it looks like it will be fun and I kinda want to try it, but I don't want to start and then have it end up being like Cata or MoP. Anyone currently playing that can give some insight?

Not really... If you really like pay-to-play games, there are a bunch out there you can try. Honestly, after a long time playing WoW, it gets boring.

I'm guessing that neither @Lightz nor @NeatSquidYT have done the beta or raid testing.

WoD is...the...fucking...shit! It's so damn good really. Bosses are hard/interesting, 5-mans are not faceroll, doing any role is pretty hard right now (With the exception of mages ofcourse). It's pretty damn good, I say try it.

I like to hear that it is more difficult again, that was my least favorite part of Cata. Along with the fact that a lot of customization was lost when the talent trees were simplified.

99% of the people said all of cata was easy probably only had 1 heroic kill. Besides healing in cata was pretty hard up until dragon soul. The feeling of HC ragnaros <3.

Simplifying the talent trees was one of their best decisions. Yeah you had 41 talent points to spend but 39/40 of them were ALWAYS going to be in the same talents. Why? Because they were the best. The 41 talent points merely had the illusion of freedom when really there were cookie cutter builds everywhere. You can actually choose now and you will not be punished for it.

Totally disagree on the talent tree thing, if you wanted to keep to the standard then yes you pretty much had one set that you always picked. However there were often viable builds that would use totally unique trees. The unholy tank was probably my favorite of all of them and was a great example of it. And to your point about cata being hard, I am referring to non-heroic raiding. In WotLK there was a clear division between people who were dedicated enough to be able to complete raids like ToC and ICC, and then another clear division between those people and the ones who were heroic ICC players. In cata the only division was between everyone, and those at the heroic level. So someone that spent around 4 hours a week playing could get gear from raid finder or easier raids that would be very similar to those who spent 4+ hours on a single raid and completed it. It was not worth it to spend all that time because you could just queue up for the raid finder and end with nearly the same results for about 1% of the effort of an actual raid.

I'd say if you want more of the same action, go for it. I just got bored of the overall structure of the game. I played a TON in BC and Wrath and loved it but the game just isn't for me anymore.

I picked it up again recently after about a 2 year leave. Personally I enjoyed the leveling of characters. I did raids and stuff but never got too into it. But yeah it is alright for a little bit. I just had that itch to play a MMO which i couldn't find a decent one and decided to head back to WoW. Unfortunately it pretty much is the same thing so if that's what you want i'd just go for it. Although I can't speak for the new expansion which looks like a changes the game pretty significantly but yeah have to wait to play it.

It's always worth it to get into WoW. Of course you have to pay to play the game, but those 10 euros which I even pay for some stupid music on spotify, it's damn well worth it. I've done beta testing in WoD and currently enjoying the wod prepatches a lot on live.

I'd say: give it a chance and don't blow it off at the first flaw you see

I've played all the expansions aswell besides vanilla. I can geniunly say that WoD (so far) literally shits on mop and cata

It's also true that everything got harder. Even fucking leveling. I had a struggle as a healer keeping people alive in a lot of situations, and I'm not that bad since i've even got compliments from people during the dungeons. and if they didn't know tactics, they would instantly die aswell, as opposed to mop where you could heal someone to full with 1-2 spells. It's a lot more fun now

About the talent trees, as @Archangel1994 said, it is just an illusion of freedom. Sure you would change your spec depending on the situation, but the exact same thing can be done now, since you can choose between 3 talents every tier.

Personally, one of the only reasons why I didn't even bother trying WOW even when they gave a free trial is because I knew it would be a waste of my time devoting my life to it only to be stopped by the trial cap and not wanting to pay loads of money for it. I saved myself the trouble by not feeding an addiction that might have started if I did play it.

I spent a lot of time on alpha+beta, nothing about WoD is really mind blowing. In terms of dungeon difficulty its more along the lines of Cata which isn't exactly a popular move with the masses, as easy as those dungeons were in a pre-made or guild group they were an absolute nightmare in full pug groups where you more often than not encounter people who aren't putting 100% into their characters.

In terms of questing content it feels like 10 Timeless Isles all stitched together, lots of rares and shiny things on the ground but you reach level 100 and cant fly anywhere, you're left with sitting in your little self contained instanced Garrison playing Facebook games. If you miss your friends or guildies then sure why not come back for something to do but if you're expecting anything awesome then get ready for disappointment :(

Raiding will always be the same scripted encounters, they're fun for a while too but without a solid raid team of friends it gets old super fast.
