Gaming/Editing PC

Deus Regum

I'm planning this build for a friend of mine. He will be using it for light to moderate content creation and hardcore gaming and streaming.

aaand here is my initial list of components.

so i would like to hear from you guys your opinions and suggestions.

as far as i can see, i'm just unsure of the PSU. It's the only notable brand being sold here unless FSP, CoolerMaster, Thermaltake, XFX and aerocool is a better alternative.

:)))

Lo and Behold

What kind of content is being worked on? Programs being used?

Where are you shopping/located? Budget? Can you link us to the shops that you'll be using?

Get the EVGA G2 750W if it's available there. Otherwise get the Coolermaster V700/V850.

I would go for higher frequency memory (1866 or 2133).

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

Ideed you could replace the psu also use higher frequency ram if he is going to use it for editing and maybe replace the led fan with a noctua one.Beside these all is fine,Good luck

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.

The case looks nice but honestly the Bitfenix mATX cases are a bit crappy. Bad airflow and limited options (if you want to build in X, you can no longer use an X, for instance proper intake fans and HDDs don't go together).

SSD go 256GB if you can, 128 feels a bit tight for me

and i hope he has HDD

i7 - great

970 - only if he has a single 1080p panel if he has more go 980

PSU - wattage is good and more than enough(system with 970 should poull around 300W) and brand is your choice - gold certification is i think a must and anything from Corsair, Cooler Master, EVGA, Seasonic, be quiet! ... depends on your regional pricing and availability

RAM - 8 GB is the sweet spot for gaming but for content creation - the more, the better and higher clock, better - so something like 2133 or 2400 is great option and there isnt even a price difference these days compared to 1600

CASE - is according to taste but something like Fractal Define R4 has great build quiality,is quiet, and has good default fans

MB - would go with something cheaper like MSI Z97M gaming or Z97I gaming AC

cpu cooler - depends what you can fit in case and what overclock are you planning - if no or slight oc then water isnt a necesary and hyper 212 is everyones favourite. if you want to oc more then H105/110 or cooler master nepton/poseidon m and if you want air, go Noctua NH-D14/15 or be quiet! Dark Rock pro 2/3

Lenovo E330 i5-3230M, 8GB RAM, 250GB Samsung msata SSD

mostly paired with LG 25UM55 ultrawide + 3TB WD Elements

Trackpoint rulezz!!

uhm. so okay. we are here in the philippines. the shop i posted a screencap of is www.dynaquestpc.com(i wonder if you guys could go there)
. maximum budget is around 70,000php or at around 1,500$usd (for just the system unit, no peripherals, display.) and yes he is just going to use a single 1080p monitor.

Main programs to be used are:

Editing programs: Sony Vegas, Adobe PS CS6, AE CS6, Solidworks/AutoCAD.

Games: BF4, Crysis series, GTA 4 and 5, Dragon Age, Skyrim, SaintsRow series. aand OBS or Shadowplay for streaming.

and oh yeah. He has Lots of HDDs, he is just gonna put his old 2Tb's from his older PC. and the SSD is for only the OS. he says its still too expensive to buy a bigger capacity one. and that he doesnt need need.

Lo and Behold

Do you have access to EVGA, SuperFlower or Seasonic PSUs? The RM series are nothing special and you're paying for the brand really - AX series are great, but otherwise I think the Corsair PSU's are pretty standard. SuperFlower/Seasonic OEM PSU's are better, so try for one of those :)

i5 4670k - Z87X-UD3H - EVGA GTX 670 Sig 2 - Samsung 840 Evo 250GB - 8GB Avexir Core White 1600Mhz - Corsair 750D w/ RGB LED Mod & Remote Control - 2x SP120 - 3x Enermax Cluster - 2TB Seagate SSHD - Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 - SuperFlower Leadex Gold 750W

I dont know if you like the case but it can fit the noctua cooler. If he is willing to spend a little more than go for something like NZXT H440. Managed to go just under 70000php.

The programs should really be in the ssd as well to take advantage of the speed.
