Can't Install an OS?

TheWiiPanda
Go to solution Solved by Baking Soda,

Memtest. Windows errors and Linux errors points me right into that direction. It's most likely your RAM.

Sounds like a broken ISO from my standpoint...

Try re-downloading the iso and check for integrity once you're done...

I tried installing mint 13, 17 and indows 8.1. I dont think so

Have you tried toggling the UEFI mode to legacy on the mobo?

The only other parts it could be is the mobo and the CPU. I dont think the gpu would have an affect. it boots and loads the bios. Even runs on a live usb, but when I try to install any os, it gives an error and crashes the installer. What do you think it is? All of this mess started after a windows auto update, and even eith the ssd, it wont install anything.

Have you tried dban?

If you think this is because of a windows update, there might be something that got messed up enough to cause this...

Try resetting the CMOS and switching from UEFI mode to Legacy mode via the BIOS...

Deciding what to put in my sig is too much of a task for me.

How do I do that without an OS installed? And my BIOS shows the RAM total, but when I go to board explorer, only one of the ram stciks are named, the other one is just DIMM1

Download the Memtest86 ISO here: http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

Either burn to a disk or make a bootable USB. It'll boot right up to the test and check for memory errors.

You do not need to install an OS for that. Simply download the ISO and burn it onto a DVD or onto a bootable USB disk

(Or, you can use LinuxLive Creator to dowload Ubuntu onto it. It'll have overhead but it's easy.)

No problem man!

I'm about 90% sure you'll come up with errors.

Good luck!

Is your RAM overclocked? If it's at default speeds, it's defective.

Which one? I have 1 stick that defaults to 1600, but my friend gave me another that defaults to 1333. The first one downclocks to 1333, so which one is it?

Error total at 14.5 thousand

This seems to be the problem :D but the test is not over :(

Take one stick out and run the test. See which one errors out.
