So I got a new Wii U and the display setup...

Yeagdrasil

I bought a mario 3d land bundle and ive been enjoying every so often but my mom is the real user of the living room tv

So I being a good son would not like to disturb her only time of relaxation whatching stuff

So I thought I would move my wii u to my comp desk and I have two setup thought out:

1. Buy a DVI to VGA, HDMI to HDMI(with audio extract) TO DVI (i dunno about what latency issue this will bring)

and hook up pc to vga and wii u to dvi port

2.The other option, lot more expensive was still stick with hdmi audio split cable and get a HDMI switch or DVI switch and add adapter accordingly to which switch and get both source run on DVI port on monitor

What would be most well-thought

considering i am willing to throw about $100-150 to get a setup working (prob most "throw money because I can" moment I am in!)

Just buy another DVI cable, you can have your PC hooked up using DVI as well as your Wii U.

Edit: If your monitor has only one DVI port, use VGA to DVI for the Wii U.

So get a Wii Component cable and do

things with like

http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-6-Inch-Component-Breakout-Adapter/dp/B00213KFHW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1340062114&sr=8-3&keywords=component+to+vga

and get component audio L/R to 3.5mm and put in my Line-In of sound card i guess?

Don't put VGA or Component into the mix. For the video you can go straight from HDMI to DVI and I reckon if you hunted around you could get a device that'll extract audio. But if you have a couple of hundred bucks? You can probably get a monitor that has HDMI inputs, built in speakers and a headphone out. Probably the best option if you're still using something that you need to use VGA inputs for.....
