Laptop can't keep BIOS settings

martlart

For some time now, my Fujitsu Amilo Pi 3560 haven't been able to keep it's BIOS settings. There aren't that many options in the BIOS and the stock setup is fines, but it's annoying that I have to set the clock every time I start it after it's been unplugged.

As it seems to be able to keep the settings while it's plugged in, I came to the conclusion that the cmos battery had to be replaced. Now I have a new cmos battery in it, but it still doesn't work. I tried to search around a bit online but I couldn't find much more than that the cmos battery was bad or that a BIOS update had failed (which I have not even done).

I guess I could set it up to sync the clock every time I start it up, but that would require it to be connected to the internet all the time. It would be great if anybody here has any idea on how to fix this problem.

complete discharge would be a good start.

Also check for BIOS updates.  Hardly any support for Fujitsu products, that's why you pay for the bigger brands.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Isn't a complete discharge bad for the battery?

I didn't pick this laptop myself, I inherited it.

All you have to do is take the battery out, then press and hold the power button for a minute or two...  poof no more electricity in the system.

try to find a BIOS update.

I've actually had the battery out for over a week already. After I removed the cmos battery, I had to order another one as it has some wires soldered to it, and I didn't put the battery back in until I installed the new cmos battery.

I'll consider a BIOS update though.
