Corsair H60 on steroids

SJBijzitter

My computer is almost taking off and flying away: the fan (or pump?) spins like a madman!

I have isolated the CPU cooler as the cause for the noise by completely shutting off my GPU's cooling and all case fans for a few seconds.

What can I do? The H60 (unlike some of the higher end models) does not come with any software!

When quiet (good stuff happens sometimes):

speeds: http://puu.sh/bBu1e.png

temperatures: http://puu.sh/bBu21.png

When loud (almost always):

...it just turned quiet, brb

If your bios has fan control, use that. Or you could try something like Speedfan. Or you could connect them to a fan controller. You could do this for fan or pump, but honestly I've never found pump noise to be particularly evident.

Yeah I'm using my MOBO's software at the moment to monitor it, now I just have to be there when it starts going insane again.

is you cpu fan 3 or 4 pin?

Its a long shot, but I know that if I plug a 3-pin fan/pump into the cpu fan header of my Mobo, all speed control is disabled for that header. so i just throw a water pump on it.

of course, 4500 rpm is insanity. I've heard of turbine server fans spinning at the speed, but holy crow thats fast.

That's barely audible, it's the pump inside the closed loop. As far as I know it's the fan that's spinning at ~1500 rpm in the screenshot that ramps up every so often for no apparent reason. But karma is on my side and it's been quiet for like 10 minutes now so I can't confirm my thoughts =/

The CPU FAN is controlled based on temperature (at least it's supposed to be) and the pump always spins at 4k+rpm and it has never been an issue. Just the past few days it's been REALLY loud! Previously you could barely hear it at all!

Perhaps it is, but it has never been an issue. The past few days it has just been insane!

Holy crap. Yeaaah if your fan really is spinning at 4600 then it will not be "barely audible". No fan around will be "barely audible" at that speed, that would be the holy grail of fan manufacture.

The fans aren't doing 4k RPM becasue they can't you sausages. The pump is running at max (it always does but is not loud) So it is the fans.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace.
