What do you think about those guys who play semi-competitively with IEM´s?

Is it really an alternative option to over ear headphones? They are quite cheaper...

 

And have you ever played with them? (ex. Xiaomi Piston´s) If yes, what was your experience?

It all depends on individual preference. and the quality of the product.

 

I've used in-ear phones to play games, it's ok, but over long periods they're probably going to become uncomfortable. I find it easier to wear big ass headphones whilst playing the videoed games for long stretches. but ultimately it's a personal preference for your own comfort conditions.

I believe competitive players don't actually use IEM's for their "superior" sound quality or anything, but for their superior isolation which is especially nice at loud tournaments. Some even take it to extreme by also wearing closed headphones over the IEMs.
