Corsair Vengeance M65 Scroll Wheel Issue

ExESGO

Going to use a web browser as an example scenario.

Okay, so I use the scroll wheel to move up and down a page, but the problem is if I were to scroll up, it would "fight back". By "fight back" I mean something like (while scrolling upwards) go up and then suddenly down the page (multiple times, and yes I am bad at describing issues).

Have this video, hope it will explain it better:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFsVntL2mvE&feature=youtu.be

I have no idea what happened to my mouse, since this morning there was no issue, and the issue arose when I came back home.

On the same note, if I were to scroll upwards slowly (like very slow, the issue does not arise, as you will see later in the video linked).

Random detail: mouse is over a year old, has never fallen of anything (or if it ever did, was still in its packaging at the time), and broke one of the side buttons because push to talk button.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, but scrolling downwards works perfectly fine.

Thanks if ever.

Maybe some things changed in the Control Panel?

Go into the Control Panel and then into Mouse.

By default, the settings should be:

The following number of lines at a time: 3

Tilt the wheel to scroll the following number of characters at a time: 3

Something like this was happening to my old mouse too, you should check if the settings are correct, but I'm not sure that this will fix the problem.. I'm gonna do some more research and I'll be back probably

Thanks for the response, but sadly no, all the settings are what you posted.

Update, now middle mouse button is not working.

Scrolling up is still the same, and scrolling down still works perfectly fine.

This happens to my M65 too. Same exact thing. I was gonna RMA it but international shipping costs the same as the price of the mouse.

I just got over it and I am now just waiting for the M65 RGB. I can't risk RMAing it only to have the same exact issue again.

Fair enough, seeing as you are also from the PH, I can imagine.

That or I might switch to Team Razer since I have a source, but then again, I wanted all Corsair. Oh well. :P

I guess I am late for the party, but I have this exact issue with my m65.
First time this happened, I opened it up and there was some acumulated dust on the wheel sensors, once I got rid of them (sortof wasnt easy to get around the wheel) problem went away, but now it started again.

Thinking to go back to Logitech MX :/

Thanks for this post - I've had the mousewheel issue for a year or so now, and just sort of live with it, but lately it seemed like it was getting worse. FInally lost my patience with it today and figured I would take a crack at fixing it myself (mouse is 3+ years old) or just buy a damn replacement.

Opened it up with guidance from elseware (Torx driver for 2 screws, knife blade to unsnap from rear, gently lift rear and pull backwards so front two click snaps come off properly) and tried to clean off that scroll wheel assembly with air, with no success.

Found this post, and ended up taking a q-tip liberally sprayed with wd40 and holding it gently against the above circled assembly as I scrolled the wheel back and forth a bunch, being careful not to let errant threads from the q-tip get pulled into the assembly.

End result was a noticeable amount of black stuff picked up by the q-tip (plastic dust from wear and tear? manufacturers dry lube?) and a mouse wheel that works properly for the first time in a year+

Posting this primarily to help anyone else who has this issue and is looking to fix themselves.

Ok, this sorted my problem. My mouse was 3+ tears old too with the mouse scroll-wheel not behaving right. It is nice to have it working again since it is my favorite mouse I have owned. Thanks for the help everyone.

Registered just to say this also resolved my issue with my Corsair M65.  However, I used isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) instead of WD40, since it dries clean and doesn't leave any residue that might attract dust/grime.

Thanks for the tip!

Thanksss! I'm on my second M65, airblowed the previous one to no avail and recently started having the same problem with the "new" one. This one minute fix did the trick though. And as mentioned before here, indeed, quite some black residue came out of the mechanism.

Thanks guys,

A few drops of WD40 on the circled assembly and a little rubbing with a Q-tip did the trick.

Torx T6 opens up the two screws. Or anything that fits the screw, because it wasn't that tight.

I should also mention that I did this on a Corsair M45. They lookalike inside..
