'Hot' smell from PC while on Skyrim

Scratchy1215

So I'm playing Skyrim and I modded it to be the ultra realistic Skyrim which uses a lot of GPU and my gpu goes to 90% usage which is fine and temps are around 74-75 degrees. My CPU is around 80degrees it's a I nonoverclocked Anthlon 760k with stock cooler, been meaning to get a new cooler. But the problem or thing I'm worried about is while I was playing tonight I smelled a kinda funny heat or hot smell as if something was very hot around me which obviously would be my PC. I felt the top and back vents and the top one was mildly hot/warm and the back was just warm. I pulled the side off while still on Skyrim and placed my hand over the gpu not touching it and it felt quite hot. I did the same over the CPU cooler and it wasn't quite as hot. Power supply was just barely warm so I'm wondering what could even be causing this smell? Or maybe it's just me not being used to playing a game that heats my computer to the 75area for once?

I would remove the CPU cooler, and check for burn marks on the CPU, socket, motherboard, and surrounding transistors. I would also remove the cooler from the GPU (replace the thermal paste while your at it) and check for burn marks.

The stockcooler's bad against the more CPU intensive games. It could either be your Power Supply, or CPU.

I would but I don't have a micro center around me and don't want to destroy or risk ruining my gpu for it. It's not a strong strong smell it's just a hint of it. I could barely notice it really but I wanted to be sure nothing was pooping out. Also I do have a older crapy asrock motherboard which I think could be the problem maybe

The fan's motor. Or sometimes when the heat is on there is a hint of burning smell.

Seriously doe, Check for burn marks. Also check your PSU.

My corsair psu did it too, returned it asap. I will only buy cases from them, their psu's have always let me down.

On Skyrim again, I don't smell it while at my desk but wen I smell the top fan it smells as if I had my iPhone 4s charging while playing clash of clans and then smelled the phone. It's a warm electronic smell. Psu smells fine and not hot it's barely warm actually
