TV vs Monitors

Alex Branham

Would a 32inch 1080p HD tv give just as good image as a norm pc monitor or would it look all weird? I want a TV as my monitor so I can put a PS4 on my desk and play it on the same screen w/e I want But the only TV i have ever used was a super old 27inch flat screen and it was bad res.

No cause TVs have larger response times; and obviously less pixel density and in most cases have lower refresh rates could just buy a monitor with an HDMI input for the PS4

i used a Samsung TV for ages as my monitor, image quailty and input lag was fine.

But I mean the only reason you'd get a TV and not just a monitor is if you need a TV tuner right?

Why not a 32 inch monitor? You can get a really good looking IPS 1440p monitor

Cause I was wanting to play PS4 on it also.

I've used a Panasonic 50GT50 3d Plasma tv for a gaming monitor for a long time and am very happy with it.  With that said I tried 3 other TV's before the GT50 2 of which were almost unusable.  The first one was my first ever flat screen Samsung 50" DLP.  That TV was awesome for games because of its quick response time but I sold it for what I thought was a upgrade to a 52 Samsung LCD.  The LCD didn't scale correctly and motion was bad.  I got a new (2012) LED 120hz Samsung 50' ... awful...  Probably a great tv for .... tv.... terrible for gaming.  The motion was so bad that... instant headache bad all around.

I'm in it heavy so my opinion may not be useful for you.  I am currently looking at the Asus VG284HE because I like 3d and want to try it w/ a 120hz monitor.  I'm told it's worth the buy....  but I'm never 100% satisfied in what I have.  I also have little monitor experience to provide a comparison.  Hopefully this helps you.

Basically the only thing bad about using a 32" TV at 1080p as a monitor is that you need to be sitting at a greater distance to make the image look "retina". Typically for 1080p, we will recommend 21-23.5in monitors because the resolution will look more crisp due to the better pixel density. 27" is good for 1440p right now.
