Cheap good 24" IPS Panel?

JEW UNIT NY
I'm thinking about getting the BenQ XL2420Z. It's on sale for $310.  The reason I want the 144hz is that in the near future I'm thinking about building my first gaming rig and want to wait on buying IPS.  I thought about iPS but it might be nice to have, but they are just expensive for 24" models.

i was originally think about getting an Asus ROG Swift PG278Q (and use the 24" as the secondary screen).  Also, I was looking at the Dell UltraSharp U2412M (@$300), but the description at newegg makes it seem like there is no HDMI (which is a problem for me because I need HDMI to run my consoles as well...Unfortunately that's what limits consoles).

Can anybody suggest a good cheap IPS panel?

Can you suggest a adapter for HDMI to DVI (so I can install a HDMI switch)?
  • This is the switch I will be purchasing

As for the audio, how can I set it up so I can see the display on the new monitor and have volume on my laptop? Is it possible

For now this monitor will be used for:

Console gaming (PS3 and X360. I NEED an HDMI). I will be needing a headphone jack so I can plug in my Logitech G430 (so I can listen to ingame story/content) headset.
NVIDIA Shield Tablet
Laptop Monitor (I NEED a Display Port. The only port other than HDMI, but DP can support the native 120hz on my laptop monitor). I don't mind going back to down to 60hz.

Future Use:

Gaming Rig (my first gaming rig in a few months; This monitor will be used as a secondary monitor).

Console gaming (PS3 and X360. I NEED an HDMI)
NVIDIA Shield Tablet

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Hope to hear some responses soon.  The BenQ XL2420Z sale is going to end soon.

Ya, it's so hard finding a budget ips with built in display port. Argg

How about this? It's $20 cheaper and has everything I need.

Have you guys hear good things about it? How is it compared to the other Dell I mentioned above? Is it a new model?

The only differnce is that this is 1920X1080p and not 1920X1200p? Does a few pixels really matter?

Sorry I guess I should have stated my budget which is <300 (including tax and shipping). I get free shipping at amazon and newegg but prefer newegg because amazon charges tax in AZ.

Is it better than Dell UltraSharp U2412M, BenQ XL2420Z, and Asus VG248QE (I originally debating between these 3 :( #firstworldproblems)?

I have the VG248QE, and it's a great monitor. BUT it isn't IPS. It has a decent picture for TN and a very high refresh rate, not only that but it can do 144hz which is divisible by 24, therefor no Soap Opera effect. AND you could purchase and install a GSYNC module. Though it may be worth it to just get the new ROG swift at that point.

Another alternative I found is Asus ProArt PA248Q for $315 (after tax @walmart...*shudders*). Why are there sooo many choices? lol

Remember if your PC can't push 144 fps in the games that your going to play, there isn't much point focusing on a 144hz monitor

It's quite good (thin bezel, many connections) but it's not an 8-bit panel. The U2414 has a 6-bit panel that uses dithering to fake every second of the color shades.

144Hz goodness
