Looking to buy my first record player!

I'm not sure if this is right section to be posting this in but here it goes!

Basically my girlfriends family have an old 1970'a records player and I've been buying records to play on it and now I wanna buy my own so I can play this at home.

But in all honesty I am so confused about what I should be looking for. Any general advice would be great and suggestions of what I should specifically buy.

I am looking to spend around £300 but can budge higher if needs be.

thanks a lot!

Aaron

No I'm not trolling? I like to collect physical copied of stuff. I like to hoard. Vinyl's are something else I like to collect.

Why would it be a troll? Some people prefer the sound of vinyl over digital. I've never gone that far back but I'm an avid CD collector and would never tarnish my collection with .mp3 files. Either way I don't have any useful input on what to buy but you could check out http://www.richersounds.com/ for audio gear. It's a British site but it's the best and you'll probably find something on there that you can get in a more local store.

Are you just looking for a turntable, or do you want an entire system? You have a lot of HiFi options there in the UK.

The Teac will work alright for what it is, but if you can shell out some more you can build a basic HiFi system. :)

Look at the Richersounds website for budget options. Check out the Pro-Ject Elemental turntable, then hook it up to a Yamaha A-S300 or a Pioneer A-10 amplifier. Budget speakers like the Mordaunt Short M20 or the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 might be able to round up the set. If they have a branch near you, go ahead and give them a visit to listen to options that can suit your taste (bring your favorite vinyl records with you).

I am looking for an entire system. I would rather get a system like you listed than buy the Teac one, I just couldn't find a lot of information so I was finding it hard to decide what I needed. This list is great and I'll probably buy using the things you suggested :)

Best of luck with the purchase and welcome to the world of HiFi. :)
