pci-e 3.0 cards in pci-e 1.0 mobo

I have a fairly old (2007) Dell server pc with a gt 630 attached on it.

 

My question is if a Pci-e 3.0 gpu would loose too much perfomance in a pci-e 1.0 slot.

There is a performance loss, it's not that bad though, depends on the card. Lower end cards will be less bottlenecked.

its less than 3% if anything so well within margin of error and you cant tell.

gtx760 or the R9 280

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

get the best your budget allows, amd is usually better bang/buck across the range, slso nvidias range is messed up, the 760 is double the power of the 750ti and the 780/ti is miles ahead of the 770 (680) so a r9-280/r9-280x can be had for around £200 but frankly anything over a r7-265 should be good

It is what i would ideally get, made a new post for an even lower budget system (the lower the better, my parents are not paid a lot)
