8 SSD's in RAID 0

Hypofely

Hello everybody,

I going to build a PC with i7 4770k, 32gb ram, Nvidia GTX 780,Gigabyte G1.SNIPER Z87 Motherboard (maybe not becouse there was a good deal on it on amazon but now it is out of stock),

watercooling for the cpu and gpu with an Corsair 1000Watt PSU.
I want to build an SSD RAID 0 possibly with 8 times 120 GB Samsung 840 EVO.
I saw a few test with the PRO version with a maximum of 4,6gb sequintal read however morelikely around 3.6gb/s .
There is any benefit to go with the pro instead of the evo althought there is almost £180 difference does it give that much difference at the level of 8 of them?Becouse 5-10% extra power doesnt seem like a good business..
And my real trouble is I don't know which RAID controller card I should go with? Which is the best performance/value on the market yet?

The computer will be used for workstation/gaming.

The EVO models are more than enough, the price difference is not worth it here.

You can make whatever disk array you want, but this type of setup will be very unstable, buggy and not good for a PC that might be needed one day to work properly and found out it's BSoDing again

I thought nowadays these type of SSDs are have a good reliability and it's come with 3 year warranty?!

Which is the best choices of these 4 raid controller for my setup?

The 3rd one looks very good value and performance or am I mistaken?

Thank you!

For the amount of money you are going to spend on 8 120gb SSDs, just grab the 1TB verison of the 840 EVO for 480 bucks. You will save yourself hassle as it's one drive and it will be significantly cheaper.

With today's technology I often wonder why we don't have colonies on the moon or Mars. Then I go to Wal Mart for 5 minutes and realize the vast majority of the human populace isn't ready for such things.

Well the 7805H is an HBA so unless you're doing sofware RAID you shouldn't get it. Next, I think you meant the 7805 or 71605E instead of the 7805E, those two do hardware RAID. For more details between them go to this link on the Adaptec site and compare your chosen models: http://www.adaptec.com/adapteccom/templates/prodcompare.php

If I had to pick I'd go with the 7 series (if money were no option), they are PCIe 3.0 and would make your RAID card more future useable (avoiding that other word) if not future resellable. The cheaper card the 71605E is still good and has 16 ports which is overkill but hey imagine if you eventually want to convert your rig to a storage server or build such a thing you'd have the card.

Not sure if you're stuck to Adaptec but you can also look at LSI, Areca, HighPoint, etc. for other options.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

Don't waste your time with RAID0

Just wait for the native pci-e drives to come out and you'll get 2GB/s outta one drive.

But if you insist on doing raid0 with sata drives, then go with either 4x 256GB mx550 or samsung 850PRO

EVO or 840PRO are both outdated drives at this point.

Not the size of the storage matters in this situation... I going for the speed.
