Go Pro/ alternatives in the $200-$300 range

So lately ive been given opportunities to do some cool things and would like to document them via a go pro.

So i plan to pick this up arround september to october depending on sales and would like to know of a go pro style action cam that is waterproof (important to me as i will be doing water sports), helmet mountable and is 1080p 30-60fps.

My price range will be arround 200-300$ tops

do you have any eperince with this one, it is cheaper than the go pro silver and the white is only 1080p 30 fps, and slowing down my trics would be nice

Drift Ghost is a good choice. I've also heard the Contour Roam2 is good. And it's cylindrical. (Less wind resistance if you plan of using it on a helmet)

Well I think the Sony has better low light performance but the Ghost is a lot sharper and clearer and looks more natural. But it is ultimately your choice.

low light might be better, im using it for skiing and biking in the trees so low light might be better, and is cheaper which is better fir me

I have 2 Replay 1080s that I use for our race car.  They are waterproof and small.  They work great for what I use them for.

I have a Sony Action cam that I use on my car and when Hiking etc. I have the HDR-AS15 version. Has Wifi, 1080@60p (no sound) etc, and was only $140 when I got it (It was probably on sale). I enjoy it, and has nice vibration reduction that sony is known for.

 

I've used mine at night, and it still works pretty good under the streetlights on the road.

 

I hear go pros are very over-hyped. Essentially they were first to the market, and now have really good marketing. But there are a ton of similar and better options on the market now. Replay is another one I've seen, Contour, and then the drift.

Contour makes some pretty good looking cameras with good specs. Don't know how they are priced there, but in here some of them fall in that price range.

I was buying one years ago but decided not to because I didn't have so much use for one back then. Now I would probably buy one of their action cameras.
