GTX 770 SLI 5760x1080

matulley

Hi there and thanks for reading.

So as of right now I currently have a GTX 770 2GB, I will be purchasing another GTX 770 2GB in the coming weeks and was wondering the following.

If people could be kind enough to post up the VRAM usage and FPS with a GTX 770 SLI 2GB and 4GB models for Battlefield 4 @ Ultra 4xAA 5760x1080p as for the last 2 weeks I've been sifting through the web to no avail.

Just want to know the performance difference of the two models as this 2GB/4GB usage is driving me crazy.

Many thanks!

The only picture I could find on the web that was of remote use was below, with the 770 being a souped up 680 I wondered if the same trend translated from Battlefield 3 to Battlefield 4.

(Not sure how to upload images on this website :( )

you want to know the difference between a 2GB 770 VS a 4GB 770 in perf ?

I want to know

VRAM usage

FPS

For the following setups in Battlefield 4 @ 4xAA 5760x1080p

- GTX 770 2GB SLI

- GTX 770 4GB SLI

Potentially I have the option to sell my current GTX 770 2GB and then buy a 770 4GB SLI setup, but then I dont fancy losing out on money from the current card and shelling out an extra £120 for something that would make a marginal difference when the chips cant perform any higher with an extra 2GB per card at that res.

It's the most demanding game I play at so it's all im interested in atm.

get a 2GB 770 cause it doesn't have the bandwidth to drive 4GB with only 256Bit bus, and you'll get very good performance in modern titles maxed out at that res, but a 4GB 770 is useless

I've played with a GTX 770 2GB 2way SLi and ultra textures was not happening. At best no AA and medium textures is what was achieved to keep about 50 FPS>

Yeah this was what I was thinking.

After my exams are over i'll be pretty much buying a new PC.

Intended setup:

i7 4790k

Gigabyte Z97X UD3H BK

16GB Ram (still looking for a decent make/brand)

GTX 770 2GB SLI

Benq XL2420Z (x3)

Just not sure whether to buy the extra 770 2GB or sell it off, buy a 780 Ti and wait a little for prices to drop then pick another up.

This was at a LAN. Look at my signature and remove both 660s from the equation and 'add' two more monitors. Also plugged in another 750W PSU just for cards.

Why not just go with Crossfired ASUS R9 290 DCUII's http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HWQUI02? You would easily have the VRAM and performance to blow past SLI 770's.

Can personally vouch for 5760x1080p with 2x WindForce GTX 770 OC 4GB cards in SLI. Ultra runs 50-60 if you don't try to run ridiculous levels of AA. You're more likely to be hit by your CPU for lower frames. VRAM nears 3.5GB.

EDIT: Seriously though, you need 4GB. You can't do it with 2.

@Sonefiler is right though, if you CAN sell your 770 for a decent price I would. A VapoX 290 CF would do far, far better. Even if you can only afford one for now (~$400-$450) it will still run nearly as good. Two would run far better.

Basically, anything higher than 2560x1400 loves AMD a lot more.

Being a "team player" in this sense is silly. Just go with whatever makes the most sense for your situation. I bounce between AMD and Nvidia all the time.

Just bought 2x mint condition Sapphire R9 290 for £230 each from a reputable seller, happy to RMA them if anything goes wrong. Cant wait to finish exams and set up my rig and test these bad boys out.

Will be selling my 770 when I get back from University. Hopefully can get around £170-190 for it - An MSI N770-2GD5/OC.
