Will the GTX 750 ti Work in Dell XPS 8500?

Yes. 

I have a Dell XPS 8500 that I am thinking about upgrading. I want to upgrade my GPU, because it is a huge bottleneck. 

 

The system is:

 

8gb RAM

intel i5 3350p @ 3.1 ghz

nvidia geforce GT 620

460w psu

 

As you can see, the GPU is the bottleneck. I want to upgrade it to a GTX 750 ti. I know there is enough wattage, its just that ive heard that the dell psu's are terrible.

 

So will it handle a 750 ti?

It depends what GTX 750 Ti you're considering getting. The reference card does not need more than the 75W provided by the PCI-E rail, while the gruntier cards (for example the ASUS dual fan model has a 6-pin connector).

So if you are getting the lower-powered model, yes it will work. If you are getting a higher-powered model, you may want to do more research before committing to a purchase.

It depends on how many amps that the PSU has on its 12V rail. It should say that somewhere on the PSU.

Yes. But if you buy one that needs a six pin make sure that you have a 6 pin or dual molex on your psu.

u will be fine ( reference models dont have 6 pins) be sure to get that

pcper tested the 750Ti with 3  branded desktops bought from the store and they all worked perfectly

The TDP on the 750ti is only 60 watts or 11 watts  higher than the tdp of a gt 620. Should be fine.

if you have a 6 pin pcie power connector and a pcie3.0 x16 lane available then it wil work properly

I think I might have been thinking about one of the ones with the 6-Pin connectors. Not the regular reference card.
