SnycNet.

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/111218-bittorrent-sync-used-to-create-decentralized-web-browser/

- “SyncNet is experimental, no security auditing has been done. Only use it if you know what you are doing.”

- Every time you access a website you would store that entire website on your local drive… you’re essentially file transferring entire websites back and forth and then sharing them yourself due to the torrent network

- Updates to a website would be streamed out through the BTSync network automatically as long as you are online to receive them

- When you create a new folder for a website it will give you a "secret". (A secret is a string of 33 characters - 160 bits encoded in base32)

- You can create read only secrets so the creator can keep integrity of the website intact, or give out the secret itself to allow for edits

- Soon an implementation of “Coloured Coins” or something similar like “Name Coins” will allow domain resolution as well as a way for users to look up the “secret” and the creator

- sync://<secret>

- only works with static content… no social networks or dynamic content

- “News”/”blog” style sites would be fine with little to no work due to the ability for BTSync to….sync

- There are ideas floating around to create a “converter” of sorts to turn current HTML sites into syncsites in the click of a button

- Also ideas floating around for Firefox and/or Chrome plugins to allow use of syncnet without a dedicated browser just for syncnet

- "a technological solution that can render the essential features of the device inoperable when the device is not in possession of the rightful owner."

- sparked by increased muggings targeting mobile devices

- Doesn’t specify what type of technology so each company can use whatever it wants as long as it completes certain objectives

- once activated it should prevent phone calls, Internet access and the ability to run apps.

- It will have to be resistant to a hard reset, attempts to return the device to factory condition or a downgrade of the operating system. Users should have the option of deactivating it if they don't want the protection, but retailers will be banned from offering such a service.

- retailers will be subject to a fine of between US$500 and $2,500 per device sold that doesn't include the technology. The fines won't target private sellers of second-hand phones.

@LinusTech - on the Sony Vaio thing, back in November their duo 13 was declared trash by vg.no, I posted about it at the time in tech news: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/72548-sony-vaio-duo-13-almost-useless-gets-flunkie-score/?hl=vaio

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Saltybet is probably a good 25% of Twitch traffic....

My numbers are totally made up, but somehow accurate.

twitch.tv could probably benefit from buying hardware transcoders, like you find in video cameras to manage the stream transcoding.

You'd probably need to get a fully custom board made, but it would make the process a whole lot faster.

Honestly I hope there is some alternative entry to the contest than to Youtube Comment. I don't have google+, and refuse to support it/use it, so I can't comment on youtube videos. It's extremely discouraging to see giveaways on every channel that you watch religiously, but cannot participate because you don't support Google+.

That mixed with the "Become LinusTechTip's spambot for a chance to win extra prizes!" made this the most disappointing video I've seen in awhile. I don't like this one bit. I understand giveaways are typically marketing gimmicks, but asking people to spam out all the famous peoples they know on the internet, or be famous and spam it out to all your followers? That's a pretty scummy contest. I usually support LTT / their decisions, and defend them when I can to people I know/people I refer to the channel... but this? Not so much. Very disappointed in the lack of integrity if this kind of ploy actually comes to fruition.

tl;dr

I r disappoint.
