Download and install the allcpumeter windows desktop gadget. It is a handy little tool to have. Shows ram too. There are other desktop gadgets for your GPU and network traffic as well.

You can go to run and write "dxdiag" and see how  many cores you had !!

But the most easy way and trusted way is look up in motherboard :D

And yes thanks,;)

Of course this isn't the proper method of checking but if your interested HT and how your system manages resources then these gadgets are well handy. CPU/RAM/GPU/Network stats constantly on your desktop but never getting in the way. I use them all the time.

Although looking for these gadgets through windows store, I did find that Microsoft has discontinued "Windows Gadgets" due to some security update. Not sure what that means for these gadgets.

Gadgets are no longer available on our website because the Windows Sidebar platform in Windows 7 and Windows Vista has serious vulnerabilities. Microsoft has retired the feature in newer releases of Windows. Gadgets could be exploited to harm your computer, access your computer's files, show you objectionable content, or change their behavior at any time. An attacker could even use a gadget to take complete control of your PC. If you're concerned about the safety of gadgets you’ve downloaded, find out more about gadgets and steps you can take to protect your PC.
