Upgrade Plan

Jano321

Hello
So I wanted to upgrade my current system to play
more up-to-date games like BF5 f.e. :
Asrock Z170 extreme4
Intel Core i5-6600k
GTX1060 6gb

16 GB DDR4 RAM
But I dont really want to spend that much money.
What CPU Upgrade can I get?
I thought about an i5-9600k but I'm not sure if it's worth it,
because I would have to buy an new mainboard for that too.

Best regards from Germany
Jano

What performance are you looking for? This should be okay for 1080p 60hz at medium high

No need to upgrade now. Your pc may not be ultra-powerful and high end but it’s great.

You can get a 17 6920HQ if you want more threads

That's a mobile processor

Your system is already perfectly fine for 1080p 60hz gaming, what's the issue?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Why would anyone bother going through all of that effort?

Well I tried to run BF5 on low settings 1080p, and couldn't geht more than 40 Frames. Which isn't enjoyable for me

You shouldn't be CPU bottlenecked in BFV on a 1060 with a 6600k. There has to be a missing piece of the puzzle.

What's your storage setup? How old is your windows install? What Resolution are you running at?

  • 3 weeks later...

So I bought BF5 now for further testing, and playing obviously, but it is really frustrating because
as soon as the action starts my framerate drops to 30ish FPS. It doesn't even really matter if I set it
to Ultra or Low.
What could be the problem for that if my CPU isn't bottlenecking my GPU?
