 if your R7 240 smokes a 7750 then my point is valid...

A perfect example where is true is 780 vs 680. Or 4960x vs 3960X. 4770k vs 3770k etc.

Remember that this is for non techies as well and that not everyone knows what 4770 or 3960 or even z77 and all that even means. they just see i7 and i7, one is newer therefore it is better. In the sense you are talking, people have to know what they are talking about.

newer is better is also false, as you get the argument, for example, I have a AMD radeon R 7 240 I totally smoke your 7750... which is complete bull.

check the bold spot. even the R7 250 gets beat by the 7750...

I loved that quote from the all knowing gaming analyst Michael Pachter when he said that PC's require a mouse and keyboard and a monitor to play games.  I was like WTF? How can someone be that ignorant and consider himself a specialist on the gaming industry?

well, it's the size of a console and you can load whatever you want on it, essentially it's a smaller than SFF casing with a pc inside, they can suck depending on the hardware inside though.

For what they will be they are overpriced small pc's with an operating system that runs less games than windows.

If you want a small pc, build one and save money.

They remind me of another company who rely on form factor and aesthetics over functionality. I wonder who that could be. ???

Nothing to see here - move along.

they're not the same as mac, there are steamboxes that can compete with console prices...

That's what I do too. It's quite effective and it takes about 10 seconds.

GabeCubes*

And how is a 4770k and a 780/Titan/780Ti in a package the size of a console not great?

The size is great but limiting yourself with an operating system that only does one thing is crazy.

Nothing to see here - move along.

steam OS has a desktop version available on it, and you can load windows on a steambox, I said that in a quote to you earlier.

That was to someone else. I do actually agree with you on the most part but if someone goes into a shop and leaves with a $1500 "Steam Box" that will only play games on steam and is in face just a powerful little pc with linux on it is crazy.

Nothing to see here - move along.

Remember that this is for non techies as well and that not everyone knows what 4770 or 3960 or even z77 and all that even means. they just see i7 and i7, one is newer therefore it is better. In the sense you are talking, people have to know what they are talking about.

So you're expecting non-techie to know what a R7 240 is?

In most cases - 95% of the time - new hardware IS better. Manufacturers don't do line-up refreshes with inferior stuff (IDK what happened with AMD's low end stuff, but that's in that 5%).
