No

Yes (but slow down with large file transfers).

Hybrid is the best of both worlds and faster than any HDD, but an SHDD cannot be as fast as an SSD even when it has a small NAND memory chip inside.

SSHD is a HDD with a small SSD cache.

Reason to use it is to boost the respons time and reduce seek time that is the biggest drawback in HDD.

What it does is copying the most frequently used files to the ssd and then when user ask for it, it can be accessed instantly, just like in ssd.

In general it won't boost the bandwidth of all files in the HDD, only files stored in the SSD cache.

The bandwidth of moving files is relatively the same as regular hdd.

The caching process is automated, the chip will decide which files are worth to put in the cache.

So to conclude, it will be more responsive than regular HDD, but transfer speed are the same.

One other drawbacks with SSHD, some OS doesn't support it, like macos.

With today's falling SSD price, i don't think its worth it to buy sshd, when a 120gb ssd is only $30.

The best combo still a SSD for boot drive and a big HDD for storing files / documents.

It depends on the use case.

In my experience where I tried them as game install drives, they seemed no better than a HD. In that scenario, unless you frequently access the same relatively small data set, it wont be cached and you get HD like performance.

In theory the use as an OS drive is more interesting, as the OS files will get cached so you can end up with a more SSD-like responsiveness, but I haven't really tried this scenario myself.
