Does anyone use used parts in their builds? Motherboards, CPU's, GPU's.

Yes.

To be clear, i'm talking about buying parts from Craigs list and other places.

I am too.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

All the time.  The only part I'd be reluctant to buy used is storage, although I did risk it once and managed to pickup a Samsung 850 EVO that was effectively brand-new.  I'm guessing they already had an SSD from an old PC and just sold the brand-new ones from their new pre-built PC.

My last two GPUs were brand new, but purely because I had a credit account with the store.

Used parts are a great way to save a load of cash :D

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I've been using hand me downs for years. My wife is a computer assassin so I take her old ones, fix them and run them till they die.

My router uses a used CPU, my server uses a used CPU and RAM, my gaming PC is brand new apart from used RAM.

NEVER buy a used PSU though, its far too important and the part that tends to age and fail over time and if you don't know how its been abused it could easily fry the rest of the PC when it goes.  At the very least the fans can go dodgy.  Granted that can happen on GPUs too but a GPU with a good cooler usually last well.
