Hi,

Which psu should i get for this build? It has a meshy c but here is the pcpartpicker link. I was told i should not get the evga psu because i could get something better.

I do plan to overclock

The EVGA G3 you have selected would be okay, but there are other stuff you can get for the same price. Check out the Corsair RMx or Bitfenix Whisper M.

maybe they didn't trust the evga brand

There have been reports of protections failing under testing on the EVGA G3 units, so it's a valid concern to raise for that unit.

Some people may disagree with me but you definitely don't need a gold rated psu

I've been using this one for a year with my current setup. I previously had a 500 watt bronze but i bought a 1080ti so I upgraded. Never had a problem with corsair.

Would be a good choice. 550w is plenty. An 8600k + 1070ti with overclocking will use <400w under full load

Because one is promotion deal, another one is regular price.

550W Whisper M is at $79, 650W version is at $85. 550W will be more than enough for your system, even if you upgraded your video card along the way.

The RM550x is cheaper at $80, but the RM650x is $100 with a $20 mail in rebate bringing it down to $80.

Also looks like you're comparing the RM550x (2018) to the RM650x (old). There's multiple versions of the RMx series which might translate to slight variance in prices, with the slightly older RMx series and the newer "RMx (2018)" variant.

RM550x (2018) - $80

RM650x (2018) - $90 ($70 with $20 mail in rebate)

If you're the sort of person who will definitely claim a mail in rebate, then the RM650x (2018) for $70 isn't a bad deal, though as mentioned before you don't really need the extra wattage so it really just comes down to the price factor. If you're the sort of person who will think that you will do it, and then forget and just leave it in the box and never claim it, just go with the RM550x.
