This is my current plan for a VR, semi-budget rig. I was wondering if I should go cheap on the CPU, as I kind of put it there in anticipation for the next 3-4 years of gaming and what it will demand in terms of hardware. Also, the CPU cooler. I like it because it is cheap, and quite quiet. If you have any notes for me or changes I should make in terms of really anything here, then put a comment below. Thanks.

For a non K i7, the Hyper 212 should perform okay. But considering your total budget you should get a better PSU. RGB PSU's are pointless and that unit is not great. A 550w unit is good enough and this unit has superb build quality with 10 years of warranty.

Same price. VR is heavy on the GPU so that's more important than CPU here. CPU comes with stock cooler so no need to buy a separate cooler.

You should, because the slightly slower Ryzen 5 2600 is half the price. For VR performance, invest money in the graphics card for something like a

That's quite a good thing, because you have quite a low standard for CPU coolers and easily satisfied. The Deepcool Gammaxx 400 performs the same, cost less. R5 2600 dont really need a cooler better than these two, but if you're looking into overclocking aggressively then the Cryorig H5 Ultimate is as good as you need for this CPU.

 

Ryzen route requires a different socket board btw, currently my go-to board will be the MSI B450-A Pro. If you really want WiFi in the motherboard then there's the Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi, but this mobo is no good for overclocking.

 

On the graphics card, the Spec-Omega has enough airflow for blower cards to be on the 'avoid' list. I would prefer the MSI Duke or EVGA FTW Ultra silent gaming (1070ti). See the extra $30 you pay for the EVGA card as fee for great customer service.
