Lenovo Thinkpad Repairs

So going back to college I do have an Acer Nitro 5 got it long before the review video love it to death. I do not like it's bulk and so I'm thinking about getting a T440 or better (within $200 willing to do fix ups) for note taking and media consumption. My sister is wanting to take me on Black Friday to go get her a laptop to do the exact same thing. She is very novice when it comes to computers and essentially every one of her laptops the issue has been the battery going out and she doesn't want to spend 200 $300 to get a new battery installed from Geek Squad. We live in different states and it's just a whole complication there. I have zero experience with this laptop but every teardown guide every issue I can think of that can happen with this laptop is 20 to $50 on a part and a half hour to an hour tops of repair work. Is there anyone who had experience or have experience with this laptop would you recommend it for my sister? Again media consumption and school note taking.

T440 isn't high on the ThinkPad scale of serviceable, but compared to other brands it's still good. Media consumption and note taking doesn't require any special amount of performance, so the cheapest ThinkPad in your preferred weight class you can find is probably the right call. Remember to consult your sister instead of trying to surprise her with a new laptop, some people struggle to appreciate ThinkPads' elegant design.
