Looking for suggestestions for air coolers for I5 9600K with OC

Rougewarrior_187

So, I got the new I5 9600K, and am looking for a suitable cooler for it. My case is limited to a 160mm high CPU cooler, so I found my choices were limited. I got recommended the cryorig h7, but I would rather not spend a large amount of money. I am looking to overclock this i5 to max 4.5 GHz, maybe 4.6. I was originally looking at the Cooler Master 212X. but I am being told it cannot handle overclocks well on newer gen CPUs. Other solutions that I was offered were taller than 160mm, or 80+ USD. And at that rate, I could go AIO, but I am uncomfortable with liquid cooling, so I would prefer to stay with air. I just don't know what to get.

Any information would be gladly appreciated!

Both of those coolers are taller than 160mm, which is the max cpu cooler height for my case.

Edit: Correction, I thought you meant the dark rock 4, and NH-D15. While the two coolers you stated are both exactly 160mm, I am unsure if they would actually fit

oh.. sorry about that. dark rock 4 (160 mm). or the nh d15s. the noctua one has the ugly fan in the middle so it looks nicer.

Well, most AIO companies have decent warranty that covers the cost of damage cause in the unlikely event of a leak due to manufacturing defect, if that makes you less uncomfortable with AIO’s. Some of them have loopholes though, like NZXT has something about them being able to reimburse users with malfunctioning AIOs at their own discretion.

Also, isn’t the H7 only like $60?

The Noctua Nh-U9S could be a good choice. It performs like a Dark Rock 3, and is $59.95 on Amazon and 125mm in height.

Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT, similar to NH-D15 performance, cheaper, more quiet, height is 159mm, only 1060 grams, no RAM clearance issue.
