Ok so trying to run an old game MOHAA specifically. And whenever i try to run it i get the message please login with administrator privileges and try again. I'm sorry i thought i was the admin after doing a bloody clean install so whats the deal here? When i tried to do a pathping and traceroute earlier it also wouldn't let me save it to my C drive either! And when i do right click and run as admin nothing even happens.

Stupid thing is, that Installing it with Administrative rights ( right click the setup ) is still different then running it normally as an administrator.

Point is local account is admin, i ran the setup as admin and it's still not working. Looking a bit deeper apparently Microsoft in their infinite wisdom did something so that MOHAA's safedisc protection means that is no longer possible to run MOHAA in any of its disk forms. Thats freaking great.
Ignoring MOHAA for now why cant i save traceroutes and pathpings to my C drive? I would get really tired of having to rightclick to run as admin all the time, there a way around that?

you can open CMD ( as admin :P ) and run: Net user administrator /active:yes

this way you can activate the Microsoft system admin account ( no password )

try to install the software and run it as this user.

you can use the same command and replace Yes with no to deactivate the account again.

also on a side note: using the microsoft recovery mode you can press F10 and activate this account again to regain access to a locked PC :P

Why would i want to use that account over my own though? I'd just rather give me account those privileges to begin with.

the difference is in an administrative User and System administrator.

some times these two are different.

especially using Windows 10 Home.

So your account is an administrator account but is it also a member of the administrator user group?

How would i check that? Jesus i thought once you install a local account and its admin and you turn off UAC i wouldn't have to deal with this lol

opening the computer management( right click on the Windows start Icon) you can open "Local users and Groups" > Groups and there is an administrators group. add your account there as well if it is not yet added.

Run the setup in Compatibility mode as well?

Don't worry about the setup part, the game i figured out whats wrong. It's microsoft being morons like normal. I'm just talking about things like in general CMD prompt, i can't save stuff on C by default i have to save it say inside a folder unless i run as admin, whats up with that, like its banning you from root access even though your an admin unless you specifically run as admin with the right click option.

Actually that brings up another small point i wanted to ask, why in CMD prompt now does right click paste AND execute immediately instead of just paste? I thought it used to just bring up the context menu?

This is supposedly an update because before windows 10 you couldn't paste with the mouse, you would have to use the menu up top to paste from your clipboard
