Yeah, this is probably the millionth post here, but what the heck.

So, my phone's surface is pretty scratched, it's old, it's fairly slow (Xperia play), it's still running android 2.1 (or 2.3, whatever) and I'm thinking I would start to save up for a new phone. The problem is that it's pretty expensive here without a plan, and that's how I'm always buying phones.

I've been looking around the online store and pretty much the only phone that appeals to me is the Sony Xperia L.

Now, before we go on, I should say I don't play on my phone anymore. Maybe a bit of minesweeper, or casual games like that, but if it doesn't have a controller (like mine now) I won't play hc games. Even now I don't really play all that much anymore.

What I want from a phone is good Wi-fi connectivity, decent battery life (not main aspect though) and a good camera. Basically all I do on my phone is when I'm not home I browse the internet and watch YT videos, and I take pictures, sometimes read documents.

But I don't feel it's the kind of leap that justifies the amount of money I would spend on it, so I might buy a PS3 instead. It remains to be seen. But I would very much appreciate if you would suggest phones that match my expectations in this kind of price range.

If you have a low budget, get a Nexus 5, if you have a lower budget, get the Moto X. If you are willing to pay $600 unlocked, go for the Sony Xperia Z1 due to the amazing specs and water/dust proof capability. It's also a very sleek and sexy phone.

Keep in mind pricing is different in Europe than it is here in North America.

Don't get a Nexus 4, there are better options.
If you can import a Moto G, it's decent for the price. I'm not sure how you countries import taxes are, though.

How good of a camera are you wanting?

And, also, what is your budget?

Cheap to some is expensive to others. For example I find $120 cheap for jeans. My friend doesn't pay more than $50.

Nexus 5 (or Moto G / Nexus 4 if you're on a tighter budget). Of course, if you do your own shopping around you can pick up LNIB second hand smartphones from within the past year for pretty decent prices, depending on where you live.

Well, I kinda gave the "Xperia L" example to give you an idea what price range I'm looking at (also features and size). I'm deliberately not saying an exact price range because it may be different (usually stuff here is more expensive with about 20-30$). But I guess about 250 USD is the maximum amount of money I would be willing to spend on a phone right now.

It would be nice if it had an HD display (not my main concern though), and a 1080p camera that shoots 720p video. This would be the vague specs I'm shooting for.

Hm, nexus 4/5, is Windows Phone a thing for you?

I wouldn't go for a Windows phone because it's too restricted. Android has a lot more apps, and more importantly, a lot more FREE apps. :D

Well, that's not actually the case any more. I'd consider myself being a pretty Standard user and all my apps are free ans i've got an App for everything i need one for, if theres no official one there is always and alternativ (f.e. Twitch -> LiveGaming :)
