yes

there's not much story behind it tbh, I run my cards 24//7 and the vega just wasn't up to it. In the end it turned out the card has a error done while in manufacturing and thus I got 100% refund even though it was over a year after I bought the thing. Because of the mining boom cards were rushed through production and it shows, My was used for folding at home, not mining, in the end. Then got a full refindf and the day I got the refund ebay has a 20% of deal site wide so I found an EVGA 1080ti SC2 Hybrid for £520 with 2 years warranty and never looked back.

Then there won't be a option for those that want RTX 2080 performance just without RT for cheaper :(

Nvidia trying to force more expensive cards and RTX on people.

(I personally wouldn't buy any of them anyway)

Yes you are correct.

But this was always the plan, they never continue making previous gen cards when the next gen is out.

Sucks for us, so there is less value in buying Nvidia now. Unless you buy a used card.

They had tons of 10 series card stock left over reportedly anyway, so they stood to benefit from having the 1080Ti be better value than the 2080 while supplies lasted.

IMO this wouldn't have been as big of an issue if the price point for the 20 series in comparison to the dollar for dollar better deal the 10 series is, wasn't so ridiculous, on top of the hardware-level defect that GamersNexus is reporting RTX to have. This is quite the disappointment because this means it might be best for any plans for new rigs to be put on hold, at least until whatever is causing 2080 ti's to die is solved.
